How to reduce food wastage
Assalamualaikum everyone, welcome to another topics of my blogs which is how to reduce food wastage. For me it is a crucial topics that occur daily in Malaysia that can only be prevent by ourselves. Food wastage can be defined as food loss too which are lack in consumption and distribution of food. I attached a video from Youtube that show how serious is food wastage has gone in 2 minutes.
From the video it was stated that:
1. We waste nearly 1.6 billion tonnes of food every year
2. Food wastage can lead to negative impact of climate change
3. We can reach ecological limits to grow more food
4. 815 million people are suffering from hunger
Here I am to show some method to reduce food wastage.
1. We need to buy food according to our needs.
Some people loves to do their grocery and buy many food over their needs because they tend to buy more at one time. This will lead to food wastage because some of food has their expired date and some people did not know how to preserve food in right way.
2.We must learn to preserve food.
In modern days, there are many ways to preserve food but of course not all of them we can use without machine. Some of the easiest ways is freezing, refrigeration, pickling, canning and drying that we can use and learn at home on some foods that suited the ways.
3. Save Leftovers
Leftovers for me contribute the most of food wastage per family. Therefore each of family members must finish the food if they tend to cook or buy a lot of food which is save the leftovers for another time. This is because some people might think some foods might end up expired overnight but it does not.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsPsn5-fYRH1Hs1e39-ugGMlg8mDVgqwf8rpF-n5YXc_S21kFwNspiUOwrEoiLoT1bjkQggiBHjOAiXAOE2IfRPGy5QftSrc8oKAgKYQ4xuyCuzLsmb2z9jrX8tUJg2D5vKaJeqD6c/w308-h225/refridgerate-leftovers-01.jpeg)

4. Learn about expiration dates
There are some terms about expiration dates which are "sell by", "use by" and "best if used by". People often get confused about these 3 terms. "Sell by" means to tells the store how long to display the product for sale. "Use by" used to show last date recommended for the use of the product while at peak quality. Meanwhile "best if used by" refers strictly to quality, not safety and it is recommended for best flavor or quality.

5. Feed people/Homeless
The easiest way to prevent food wastage at home is give and take food with each other. We can donate some of our foods to other needed people such as to the charity organization, homeless people or orphans and maybe our neighbours whenever we have additional food left.
To conclude, I honestly did not try some of these ways to prevent food waste at my home. Therefore after this I would like to try it myself and there are more ways actually to prevent this circumtances from occur. So we must have more awareness towards this issue and I hope if we cannot prevent it, we must try to reduce it. Thats all from me for this blog. Thank you an Assalamualaikum.
