How do I see Maqasid Al-Shariah being applied at home?

Assalamualaikum everyone, for this week topic given was about Maqasid Al-Shariah. To be honest, I have learnt it in Islamic Finance but not very good at it. Therefore I have did some research on it of course from Google and eventually I did understand it more. Firstly, on my last lecture of UNGS Maqasid was stated -:

Definition:   

Islamic law as the objectives or purposes behind the Islamic rulings. The true objective of Maqasid Shariah was to protect and promote the wellbeing of people and nature. It includes enhancing Maslahah (benefit) to people and preventing Mafsadah (harm). The aims of maqasid shariah is to benefit and protect the Ummah generally, and to discipline and structure the living in accordance with the Islamic values and principles as pronounced in the Quran and Sunnah.

5 Objectives of Maqasid Shariah: Lineage, Wealth, Religion, Life, Intelect

1. Life

Life in Maqasid Shariah promotes peaceful life for ummah to live in harmony. Although there are some country that being in war for consecutive years, in Malaysia alhamdulillah we got to live in peace without any war. Although the concept of Maqasid promotes peace, at my place crimes always happened and therefore we have authorities that provides safety and justice to provides peaceful environment for people such as polices and court to judge crimes occured. This method actually came from Maqasid concept itself to prevent harm and violation towards people. 

2. Lineage

Lineage is essential nowadays because there were many prohibition that being allowed these days. For example LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) cannot be allowed and it it prohibited by Islam itself. Therefore, with Maqasid Shariah concept being applied, we can protect dignity of our family, friends and community themselves from this type of prohibitions. At my place, of course this prohibition is opposed without any judgement needed.

 

3. Wealth

 With Maqasid Shariah, we can preserve our wealth from things that haram to consume. In this modern days, we can see many prohibition did by people in many different authorities did such as corruption in money flow to earn more than they should earn. This type of people cannot be seen easily but we can see their impact or effect of things the did to change something. Alhamdulillah, in my entire life, this thing is not happen yet because the concept of Maqasid being applied to prevent people with this such prohibition.

4. Intelect

Preservation of intelect in Maqasid Shariah is to prevent people in harm to themselves. This is because humans is endowed with intelect by Allah S.W.T to differentiate between bad or good things for ourselves. For example with Maqasid Shariah we can prevent ourselves from consuming alcohol and drugs to release stress. 

 

5. Religion

The most important objectives of Maqasid Shariah is to protect our religion. By protecting our religion is mean by to prevent ourselves to deny or pushed away any heresy that opposite with Islam. Islam is a religion that practices on Al- Quran and Sunnah that being applied in our life. Actually there so many teachings that opposite with Islam being applied by some people that spread wrong information to the community. Therefore with Maqasid Shariah we must practice on Al- Quran and Sunnah to live in harmony.

  The conclusions is, Maqasid Shariah must being applied by people especially muslim to have a good life. Although we cannot prevent all of the bad things to happened, we can try to preserve a good thing with Maqasid Shariah. So thats all for this topic, thank you everyone and Assalamualaikum
